connection to our parents’ wedding day
It is always special to have some connection to our parents’ wedding day when we walk down the aisle on our own. This bride’s mother had saved her veil for 35 years and her daughter was thrilled that it was in such good condition. Unfortunately, the veil was crystal white - which was the fashion at the time the mother got married - and the bride had chosen an ivory dress, which clashed against the colour of the veil.
I suggested that the mother unpick the gathers in the veil and soak it in a bucket with some teabags. When they brought the veil in for a later
fitting, the ivory colour was perfect and I was able to quickly re-sew the gathers. It is such a treasure to share from mother to daughter.
