Plus size bridal shoot. The Essense D1732 is a fit-and-flare design dress and features asymmetrical pleats which are very flattering on a plus size bride to be . I styled the D1732 Essense of Australia dress and put a Justin Alexander lace and tulle Sabrina neckline with cap sleeves . The photo shoot is a size 20 model but it hasn't been altered to fit her perfectly as I would on a real bride to be.
Essense of Australia D1706. This bride had an appointment with me early this year looking for a wedding dress. I looked at her shape and said " ball gown or an A-line would suit your figure shape" .
This bride had a lace fitted dress in mind for her wedding dress style . There was only one dress that I had for her to try on. I didn't have a lace dress that I thought would suit size 14 top and size 16-18 bottom. This is something I would be looking at the next bridal trade fair.
When I saw this bride today again for another appointment months later . I said " haven't you found your wedding dress yet" she said " no I need to find something today" . I said can I style you on what I think would look great on your body? This bride said " yes as I haven't had the best bridal shopping experience and I thought you were the most honest out of all the boutiques I have been to.
I put her in a Essense of Austraila D1706 I had to take a photo. The fit and style is perfect for her body shape. The Bride to be is flat chested, small waist and the hips are covered by the full circular cut cut. This dress has a detachable lace peplum which you can remove at the reception .
The photos are of her in the dress in a size 14. All that needed altering was the length. What do you think ?
Behind the scenes of my Plus Size Bride photo shoot.
I have been interested in styling plus size bride to be. This is behind the scenes photos that I had taken with my iPhone. The model is a size 20. All the gowns that were photograph are a size 20. I think she looks amazing but stay tuned for the professional photos by Appleart Photography .Just by my photos which aren't professional how stunning dose this Plus Size Bride look, it's about styling the bride to be not sizing them .
It’s a home truth in this area that word of mouth can either make or break your business. In my case, I would say the community here is something that has enabled the success I have been fortunate to experience so far. Local experience and local knowledge is valued, local people like to support local people, and when the service and experience is good from a business, people like to share that with others.
Hi Brides to be ,It has been just over 2 years since I opened Accapella Bridal. I loved styling brides that come into my boutique, but I really want get into styling a plus size bride.
This bride came in early this year flustered that she had not found a dress for her August wedding. I asked her what style she had in mind? She explained to me I want a ball gown. I pulled out 8718 but it wasn't her size l said to her hold it against your body and I am going to explain what this dress would look like in your size. My dressmaking skills and explaining what it would look like made her mum and bridesmaid cry.
Rachel ordered the dress that day. Rachel being a size 24 but, had lost a little more weight when her dress arrived, not even trying she said " just organising a wedding " . I have photos of her final fitting. I said to Rachel "how complimenting is this dress" . It's about " styling a plus size bride not about sizing". She sent me a photo with a lovely message .
Hi Connie, sorry I didn't get a photo to you yesterday, but thank you SOOO much for the most amazing gown , it was everything I wanted and more!!
How happy I was to know she loved her wedding dress when she thought she would never find a dress. I am so grateful she trusted me in styling a wedding dress that was nothing but perfect for her.
I had a call from a bride in July saying she needed some simple alterations to her wedding dress. I explained that I don't alter dresses that are not purchased from my boutique. This bride lives interstate and explained that I had altered her mum’s dress last year. They were both happy with it. The bride said “it's only the modest panel at the back that needs to be moved”. I said“that is a small alteration” and to bring it in.
Hi Brides to be,This bride came into my boutique with one particular request in mind, she wanted her arms covered. My bride loved lace and wanted fullness in the skirt. I didn't have what she was looking for but I could get Justin Alexander 8720 for my bride to try on. I chose this dress as it was V front which is great for fuller bust and I knew I could get the extra lace and make her 3/4 sleeves. My bride felt confident and comfortable on her wedding day. One very happy bride .I know being a seamstress always makes it easier as I know what can be done to a dress to make my bride happy .
When a bride calls for an appointment, she gets me. When she comes in for her appointment, she gets me. When she asks a question about a gown she tried on or enquires relating to a particular gown, say through Facebook or email, I’m the one who replies. If they need alterations made to the dress, they get me. It doesn’t matter what day it was, what time, or at what part of the service, my clients get me. I am involved in the entire process.
While this kind of service does come by virtue of me owning a boutique business, it also allows quality to be delivered at every step of the way. I believe that my brides should walk into Accapella Bridal and be treated exactly as I would want to be treated. This is what I expect from businesses of which I am a client, and this is what I expect my clients to expect of my business.
When choosing their gowns, my brides get the best of my 25 years experience. Every gown that is stocked has passed my critique – the design, the beadwork, the fabric and its heaviness, the finishings, the cut, the hemming, the stitches, and above all – the structure.
The key difference between myself and other businesses is that I’m a seamstress not a salesperson. I’m as much invested in the quality and choice of a bride’s gown as they are – even after, and even more so, after they walk out the door with their dress. Where I can save a bride on alterations, I will save my brides money. For example I had a bride who by wearing a heel with her dress saved on hemming,
The gowns that are stocked at Accapella Bridal were handpicked by me – I’ve seen them, felt the fabrics, etc before they reach my boutique. I don’t pick them from a catalogue. My gowns are a collection and because I’m so familiar with the different shapes, sizes, and shades of beauty, I have something of everything. I don’t have mass quantities of any one dress, but if you want a gown with a halter neck, or a strapless, or a lace applique, I have something for you.
If I had to choose the one thing that really differentiates Accapella Bridal, it’s the experience, expertise, and service that is maintained every single step of the way until the very last one down the aisle. That’s a personal guarantee that I can make wholeheartedly and genuinely, because I am personally involved at each of those steps.
Accapella Bridal goes above and beyond for each of my brides. My business is my investment in so many more ways than one, not the least the investment of my passion and dreams. So from the very first phone call up until the day they wear the gown, I deliver first class service that is honest, personal, and one-on-one. I think this is something, along with my knowledge and experience, that is really valued and appreciated in this region and by brides in general.
I had a bride who didn’t want the train of her dress but whose little daughter was also going to be at the wedding, so I suggested and made a miniature version of her mums dress for her to wear down the aisle. My bride wanted her dress to be a certain way, so I had it made my one of my Italian suppliers. One bride and her bridal party were struggling to find the bridesmaids dresses they were after, and although I don’t stock bridesmaid dresses, I knew one of my suppliers had the exact dress. I showed my bride and she loved it, so I ordered them in for her. As well as all the other times in between when I’m sat with my laptop at nighttime after dinner emailing my brides gowns that I saw they might like, these are some stand out moments that I feel best capture the lengths I go to for my brides.
A wedding dress is a purchase that is only intended, and is hopefully only made, once in someone’s life. It’s a big deal and so for somebody to be making an investment in a gown they will wear once and to be making that choice for the first time, having a service and advice with a personal touch that is genuine down to the tee is something that helps this part of their wedding preparations to be something that is enjoyed and cherished, not stressful. To help a bride select a gown that is everything she wants, in her price range, and for that process to not only be stress free but a pleasure - that is complete satisfaction.
My business is Accapella Bridal - the sum of my life’s work and belief. A bridal boutique that is the fusion between good old fashioned local service and internationally imported gowns of the highest quality.
My business is me.
It is a small boutique that is physically apart of the building that is my home. Each gown is handpicked by me and has passed my critique – the sum of 25 years of seamstress experience. In my own little corner of Wollongong I have gowns from Italy, London and New York. From the design, to the beadwork, to the stitching, every single gown that is stocked at Accapella Bridal is of exceptional quality.
My business is personal.
It’s one-on-one. I am the receptionist, the stylist, and the seamstress. Every phone call and every time somebody walks through the door, they get me. As is expected of all bridal boutiques, Accapella Bridal sells gowns, but every gown that is bought suits the figure and character of my brides, each of whose name I know. I don’t believe one size fits all, so if needed, with my keen eye for design, I alter the gowns to suit the style, the figure, and the imagination of my brides. I’ve seen tears from mothers and friends, I’ve seen faces light up, and I’ve seen photos of stunning brides on their wedding day.
My business is my passion.
Accapella Bridal is a place where brides-to-be can tap into expertise without having to leave the Illawarra and be delivered the best service possible in every respect. It’s a place where their experience of choosing a gown is everything they had hoped, and adds to the excitement and lead up to the most important day of their lives. My passion is for my brides and myself to be certain that the gown they walk out with is everything it would be had I made it with my own hands.
Accapella Bridal is a local bridal boutique that stands for high quality, high service, and unrivalled uniqueness.
I received this beautiful compliment from my lovely bride.
Hi Connie, I have been following your page ever since my wedding but u just realised I have never sent you a photo and our first anniversary us on Monday!!! I was so unsure if my dress was right for me but you were confident it was right and on my special day I could not have been any happier. I know I thanked you but without your confidence it would not have been so perfect xxx
Hi brides to be, I would like to share an alteration I did a while ago. This dress was bought online. The photos are the inside of the dress as I'm the only person that gets to see how crooked the seams are, uneven seam allowance, big seams, unstructured, and also no bonding in the dress for support .The lace was also very hard and scratchy. This dress is one of the better online dresses I have seen but still no where to my standards.
My trip has come to an end. I have had the most amazing experience. I had the pleasure of meeting the designers, seeing their collections first hand. I've had so many compliments from the designers and sales staff, the most flattering was how they said they could see my passion for bridal. They told me that they could tell I have bridal seamstress experience from the way I selected the gowns, and I was absolutely taken aback to hear that from them.
I feel like I have so much more knowledge about the collections from meeting the designers and staff. My tour of Atelier Aimee was incredible. You can really appreciate her collection by looking at the design house and seeing the hand beaded tulle, fabric, laces, and designs, are beyond any I have ever seen.
Before I left Australia, everybody told me how tired I was going to be as it was such a long way for a 5 day trip. I can say though, that each day I woke up knowing what I had to see and who I had to meet that. There was so much excitement and adrenalin that I didn't feel tired at all. So incredibly passionate for what I experienced in 5 days, I can't wait to bring it all back to Accapella.
To my brides to be that like the unique classic vintage look. As a bridal seamstress myself I have always loved peplums and gloves when it comes to bridal wear. Lace gloves is not popular with Australian brides but it will take just one bride to wear them to compliment her wedding gown and the trend will start. I ordered the Lusan Mandongus lace gloves as he has a few bridal gowns that compliment the gloves. Imagine walking down the aisle with your lace gloves ,bouquet and when your husband is about to put the ring on your finger, you gracefully pull the gloves off every finger just like the movies .
My bride Teneal rang me asking about 9721, which I didn't have in my boutique . I explained to her that I have a dress similar to 9721 and I have lace that is similar to 9721, which my dressmaking skills I could help her visualize what the wedding dress would look like on. Teneal drove all the way from Wagga Wagga to find her dream dress in Wollongong .
It's simply just Black & White . I have made a black & white wedding dress 20 years ago. I have never had a bride in a black wedding dress. I have always admired the designs of Atelier Aimee . I would love to style a bride in one of the Atelier Aimee back & white wedding gowns for that unique bride .
