Bridal Buying
Hello Future Brides! Whenever I do my dress buying, I always keep body shape in mind…first deciding on the style I like and then considering what sized/shaped bride would look best in that dress.
This bride came in looking for a ball gown style dress, and at first I agreed. She had a typical size 14 hip and size 10 waist and bust and so the
extra ‘give’ in the skirt of a ball gown would be suitable. After trying on a few ball gowns, I suggested she try on a particular fitted dress
I had recently acquired. Her initial response was ‘No way!’, however with a bit of coaxing, she agreed to try on the dress for me so that I could
see what it looked like in her size.
The dress was quite fitted but made from a heavy guipure lace, which is just as flattering and sexy in a size 14! I believe that brides should embrace
their curves, and this dress certainly does that.
When the bride turned to look into the mirror she was SHOCKED. She exclaimed “Connie, I look skinnier than I did in the ball gowns! I never ever thought
a dress like this would suit me - it looks like I lost 10 kilos.”
I would have loved to take a before and after pic but we decided to keep the dress a surprise until after her wedding…no one will expect her
to wear a fitted dress and everyone is in for a great surprise!
