This past week I've had three Brides call me, asking if I could do alterations on dresses they had bought in Sydney. I explained that I was too busy to do alterations for anyone other than the Brides that had bought from my boutique. I suggested they call the shop they bought their dresses from, and arrange to meet with the in-house seamstress.

The excuses I was offered ranged from 'too far to travel' to 'I don't have time'. One bride had even purchased a dress from a boutique that did not offer any alteration services. Unfortunately, these issues are not my problem - if Sydney is too inconvenient for a Bride, they shouldn't buy their dresses there in the first place.

I have a number of Brides at any given moment, who travel from Sydney in order to purchase their dresses at my boutique. I frequently stay behind until 8pm or later, and open on Sundays, just so that I can meet their needs as best I can. It is my prerogative to decline alteration jobs on non-Accapella gowns, and a decision I make in order to provide a higher level of service to my actual clients. I WILL NOT accept rudeness from callers who are unhappy with this decision.
