One thing I’ve learnt after more than 35 years as a bridal seamstress is this — every wedding dress tells a different story.Some gowns arrive fitting beautifully with only a hem change required. Others need extensive restructuring, added support, custom sleeves, reshaping, or a complete reworking to make the dress feel right for the bride wearing it.
And honestly? That’s completely normal.
At Accapella Bridal in Wollongong, alterations are a huge part of what we do. Unlike many bridal stores, all alterations are done in-house by me personally. From the very first fitting through to collection day, your gown stays in experienced seamstress hands the entire time.

That honesty is important. Sometimes a “small change” on a bridal gown can actually involve completely reconstructing the bodice or remaking layers of lace and appliqué.
