This bride ordered a dress two sizes smaller than what she was when she first chose it, with the intention of losing weight. She visited the boutique a few times to make sure she was on-track to fit her dress, and she had done extremely well with her weight loss despite losing her mother in law only weeks before the wedding.

When she came for her alterations-fitting, despite her significant weight loss, I was still unhappy with how the dress was sitting on her new figure. Being a true pear shape, the bride was three whole sizes smaller on the top half, with a shapely waist. I suggested we lift the sides of the bodice to create a more dramatic v-shape to the waistline. You can see from the photographs that this small alteration to the style of the dress had a massive impact on the overall fit and made it much more flattering. You wouldn’t believe that the two pictures were taken only a week apart and with no further weight loss. The bride, her mother, and I all had tears in our eyes when we saw what a difference it made.
