This bride is very special to me and has touched me deeply. Tori came to see me in July last year for made to measure, Following the consultation I sent her a couple options when it came to her gown, leaving the always tricky choice up to her to see which one she liked and was in the price range she could afford. As is always the case with made to measure unfortunately, the gown was going to be quite expensive, which left us at a bit of a loose end. I always have my brides and their gowns in my head, which can sometimes be a blessing!
I came across a Justin Alexander gown and messaged Tori straight away. I knew I would only need to change the gown a little to flatter her figure and shape. I ordered in one of this gown just to show Tori and even though it wasn’t the perfect fit, she tried it on my pedestal and fell in love. I held up my silk fabrics against the gown and explained what I had in my head imagined to do and what I would love to do to complement her even more. She said the words I always love to hear, “Connie, I trust you, let’s do it!”
Her dress arrived in her size on the 16th January (I still remember the date!) I couldn’t wait for Tori to arrive at Accapella after work just so I could see it on her. She tried it on and absolutely loved everything about it. And so began my alterations… I chose to ruche the silk dupion diagonally to be more flattering to the front and back of her dress. I wanted to emphasis Tori’s waist to best accentuate her curves and for all attention to go from the waist up.
No matter what shape or size my beautiful brides are, the same principle always applies – draw attention to where you want everyone to notice and keep it simple where you want to divert attention. Also I can’t stress the importance of a good bra and undies ladies! We want a good bra to lift up the bust so you can show off your waist ;) I’m so pleased of the outcome and to have achieved what I wanted to out of this process. In the end Tori was a very happy bride and in the end we saved about $2500-3000 of what would have been the made to measure price.
