lose weight for the Big Day

We all want to lose weight for the Big Day. Sometimes that works out, but frequently it doesn’t, so I try to discourage my clients from setting their dreams (and dress orders!) on losing a large amount of weight. My motto is “If the dress looks great as you are when you try it on, order it! If you lose weight, that’s a bonus.” I am sure you can imagine that it is much easier for me to make a dress smaller than it is to make one larger!

This bride, however, was set on a particular dress and on losing a considerable amount of weight for her wedding. The dress she loved was beautiful, and I knew the style was right for her body shape, so together we made the difficult decision to order it a full two sizes too small. I explained to her that it was a lot of pressure on her (and on me!) to lose the total number of centremetres she would need to fit into the dress, however if she was determined, I was happy to support her all the way through her weightloss journey - I was the new Commando!
She had lost a considerable amount of weight when the dress arrived, but it was still a little too small. I suggested she come back in a few weeks and give the dress another go. As soon as she walked into the shop that day, I knew that the dress was going to fit!
We added little lace sleeves to allow the bride to feel more comfortable with her upper arms.
I am so proud of my bride for losing the weight, she looked stunning! Well done.
