Martina Liana 1607 – Custom Basque Waistline Transformation
One of the things I love most about working closely with my brides is creating a gown that feels truly personal to them. My recent Martina Liana 1607 bride is the perfect example of how small design tweaks and seamstress expertise can make a world of difference.
The Bride’s Wish
She adored the original gown but wanted two important changes:
A more defined waistline that cinched in and enhanced her silhouette.
A neckline adjustment that provided a secure, flattering fit for her fuller bust without any bulging at the sides.
The Custom Change
I worked with the designer to create a deep V basque waistline, which beautifully elongated her torso and accentuated her waist. We also extended the pleated bust detail by an inch so it sat closer to the armhole, offering both support and a more balanced look.
The Final Fitting
Before her wedding, my bride lost almost 4 inches from her frame—except, like many brides, her bust measurement stayed much the same. This is something I see often: weight loss doesn’t always happen evenly across the body.
Because she had ordered a size down, the bust was suddenly showing more than she felt comfortable with. Luckily, she decided against straps for her final look, which allowed me to use those straps to create an extra pleat across the bust pleating. This subtle adjustment gave her extra coverage while keeping the draped detail seamless and couture.
The Result
The final gown was not only stunning but also perfectly tailored to her body and her comfort level. The deep basque waist gave her that dreamy, cinched-in silhouette, while the neckline provided security and elegance without compromise.
✨ It’s moments like these that remind me why customization and alterations are so important—every bride’s body is unique, and her dress should celebrate that uniqueness.Connie xo
