This bride had her first appointment with me months ago - excited to be searching for her wedding dress, but also very nervous as she was plus sized and had a particular dress in mind…a straight lace shift with lace covering her shoulders.
At her appointment, I showed her a lace strapless dress I had in my samples, and a lace jacket that went really well with the dress. It was frustrating
for the bride that the size 18 sample didn’t fit, however I explained to her that I frequently ordered gowns for brides that weren’t able to try
them on before ordering. I held the dress against the bride so that she could see what the two pieces looked like together and I explained in detail
how the dress would fit. I think it’s important that my brides can feel comfortable in my boutique and know that no-one is going to walk in while
they are having their appointment. This is why I only take enquiries via appointment, rather than accepting walk-ins.
I took the bride’s measurements - size 24 bust and size 26 hips - and explained that I would order a size 28…this would give the dress enough
fabric to be slightly A-line and fall gently over the hips. We could then run it in at the waist and bust to give it the perfect shape for her
figure.
