Groom offers double the price for alterations

Hello Future Brides,I received a call the other morning from a groom, who was calling on behalf of his unhappy bride. She had bought her dress from a boutique in Sydney, and unfortunately the seamstress had not fitted the dress to the bride’s satisfaction. The groom’s call came quite urgently as the wedding was a mere three sleeps away. He explained that it was an emergency, and offered double the cost of the alterations if I could fit his bride in.

The groom was lovely, and it was so nice to see a future husband as concerned about his bride as he was. However, when I sell a dress to a woman, I make a commitment to her. My biggest priority is ensuring MY brides are catered for in time for their weddings, and as I am a one-woman show, I am frequently unable to find spare time to take on external alterations. It is important to me that I am able to look after my own brides without the added pressure of emergency alterations.
I find it really hard saying no, firstly because I can really feel for these poor brides…but also because it goes against my work ethic as a seamstress - no bride should be left unhappy with her alterations! But I just don’t have enough time to cater for the emergency calls I receive every fortnight. I need to be 100% sure Accapella Brides are happy.
